Thank you Mr. Chairman. I thank Chairman Thompson for convening this important hearing to examine President Obama's Presidential Study Directive.

I just wanted to make sure that was on the record----

I want to offer my enthusiast support for H.R. 847.

Mr. Chairman, if I can further----

That means that we have at least $1 billion still sitting? Is that right?

Isn't the on or the equity on the side of ensuring that indigents get good defense and that that would be a Federal nexus and desire under the Constitution?

Isn't it true in your readings that you have seen my state be notorious for, one, poor defense--so let me just say it; I will put it on the record--of indigent as it relates to death penalty cases?

The idea of provisional ballots is to make sure that there is empowerment.

People do not understand it.

While we can shine a little bit of light today on these unfortunate chapters in our history, one hearing is just part of the historical conversation.

I am looking forward to hearing from our witnesses today, and participating in the ongoing conversation about how we can preserve the rights of ethnic minorities and refugees in wartime, so that these tragic episodes are not repeated.

They intimidate. They make sure that you do not know about the provisional ballot.

The mistreatment of Japanese Latin Americans is the subject of H.R. 42, a bill that has been referred to this subcommittee.

Everyone has a right to vote their choice, but it does speak to intimidation.

Frankly, we should nationalize the crisis of voter ID. It is beginning to be a plague across America.

It raises an issue of security to the crisis level of great concern.

I thought I would acknowledge the Ranking Member for both his diligence and his support for the product in his district.

Thank you Chairwoman Jackson Lee, Ranking Member Dent and the other Members of the Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection for the opportunity to submit testimony for today's hearing.

I remind each Member that he or she will have 5 minutes to question the panel.

So I really think I am going to go directly to you.

I think we have enough time to yield again. So let me indicate the Chair will now recognize other Members for questions they may wish to ask the witnesses.

Might I add, as I started out, it is important when Congress issues mandates to note that they are for the betterment of the American people; and we will work diligently to comply.

You can say that big banks create a monopoly, and it may be that they are intrinsically part of the capitalistic system.
