I want to start with the representative, Dr. Hoven, from the American Medical Association.

And I just want the record to reflect--and I will read it again; and this document is dated April 27, 1994.

Is there anything in your personal life that could be used by someone to coerce or blackmail you?

I would appreciate if I could get that answer.

Was he gambling then?

And did you have any evidence of his association or having to be involved with unsavory characters--using an old terminology?

It sounds like Judge Porteous may have only underestimated his income by a few hundred dollars per month in the 2001 schedules.

So they do so--their inside ball game?

In addition, that document is viewed as a Federal document or a document which would make representations to the Federal Government is it not, the bankruptcy petition?

At the level of the evidence which you reviewed about his gambling habits, would it suggest that he needed to keep a constant flow of money going?

And help me again. How far back did this gambling evidence suggest that he had been gambling?

As an FBI agent dealing with either criminal failures or civil failures--and this is speculation and I understand that--if you were in a courtroom, you might assume that a judge might take note of that as well?

We can also speculate that that would have been a real red flag on a bankruptcy petition, would it not?

Did he make his way to various sites--Michigan, Las Vegas, Atlantic City?

It looks like he was focusing around the Gulfport region.

I think that is an abuse of justice. I think that is a heinous, immoral act.

I think our insight will be very helpful in this arena.

I have interest in the digital divide, as many of us do--when I say 'interest', interest in closing it.

I think going forward I hope that... we don't view this hearing as a hearing for hearing's sake.

I want to acknowledge that the presence of the National Federation of the Blind both impact and impress me.

The United States is deeply committed to two critical things in Sudan. One is effective implementation of the North-South Peace Agreement, the CPA, and the other is saving lives and ending the suffering in Darfur.

So it is not just a cheap way of doing it, it is actually impacting saving lives and the United States involvement in conflicts around the world overspilling.

I think America needs to focus on that a little bit more as we relate to what the United Nations actually does.

We need to pursue this legislation, but we also need to pursue an administrative solution to this situation, which is very possible.
