Senator McConnell, yes, you are talking about the president, but aren’t you also talking about yourself?

If we do not deal with our past, it`s going to be our future.

Please, God, that it never happen again. We never would have thought it would happen. But I hope they come forward, I hope whatever commission is set up is independent and has the full power that they can collect all of the evidence.

I hope they also collect the stories and catalog the stories of the heroes.

I don’t think somebody like Lindsey Graham, who has spoken out of both sides of his mouth, disgracefully so, should be anywhere near this commission.

I want a commission, I want it to be impartial. Certainly, the people you have just talked about have fully disqualified themselves from sitting on any such commission.

I am ashamed for Lindsey Graham. I am shocked, but I guess I shouldn’t be, that he learned nothing, that it is the president who incited this mob attack, this insurrection against a joint session of Congress.

What we have seen is a president fail to do that in historically dangerous ways.

This is a president guilty of the worst and highest crimes of misdemeanors and, sadly, he played on these people's fears and ignorance.

There's never been a sadder, more serious time for our country, and we don't have to look any further than Liz Cheney to say there's never been a greater betrayal.

I hope that we will be able to show not only our country but, of course, the jury of senators that our president, sadly, is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors for which he must be convicted.

They wanted to assassinate the speaker and the vice president, hunt down members of Congress, and they didn't mind killing people in their wake.

Lindsey Graham knows better. He knows that the evidence is, sadly, right before the American public.

It is an indictment of the high crimes and misdemeanors that this president is guilty of, an attack literally on our country.

What I would like to ask about and shift to is something I have been very concerned about, which is the use of shackling of pregnant women while in confinement.

I appreciate that and the balancing of the urgency of COVID against the assessment of whether a person is appropriate for compassionate release.

When we talk about 18,000 people going to home confinement, they were going there anyway under the protocols as things were happening; they weren't as a result of COVID release.

I thought this was a serious body here to talk about governing and protecting public health and protecting public safety, and not a campaign commercial.

Your ballot is secure, up against a president who says, 'Get rid of these ballots.'

I want to ask you, and this is really just from constituents who text me, call me. They are fearful for their vote.
