Well, every day that the White House dithers about this, more equipment is pouring in for what I presume is going to be a renewed offensive at some point.
Removal of these restrictions will allow us to move forward on this essential component of the rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region.
But it is a complicated decision that involves other kinds of assistance that we are giving.
I am concerned that this has tremendous detrimental effects, encouraging Putin's aggression, and discouraging countries from being friends of the United States.
In the end, that is going to be the key to keeping what we all want, which is an independent Ukraine that can find its own way, and isn't pushed around by the Russians.
I have been arguing for a peace-through-strength approach that really puts reliance on agility, strategic maneuver, and particularly the restoration of the global response force capability.
Iraq will be stable and secure only when it has a stable and inclusive government that addresses the needs of Iraq's diverse society.
I believe the President's proposed AUMF does both. And I urge this Congress to pass it.
To me, this is a sensible and principled provision of the AUMF, even though I cannot assure that the counter-ISIL campaign will be completed in 3 years.
