I have no higher priority as the Chairman than using the authority and jurisdiction of the Commission to help U.S.-based exporters access shipping services and reach overseas markets.

I would like to start by commending Admiral Schultz for his strong, steadfast leadership of the Coast Guard.

We haven't found collusion, but we know there is collusion, and we are dealing with shipping cartels.

All of the witnesses here before us today play a vital role--the Coast Guard, the Federal Maritime Commission, the Maritime Administration--in our Marine Transportation System.

The type of standards that we see throughout surface transportation programs for instance, like strong Davis-Bacon prevailing wage and Buy America provisions, must be included in cleaner energy projects.

The idea of Fix it First was: Look at that, and deal with it, maintain and rebuild in a resilient way our existing infrastructure.

Once the President visited the day after a bridge collapse in Pittsburgh.

I just find some things here a little bit contradictory.

I congratulate you on your efforts.

We need to let them know what is available, and give them opportunities to be exposed to careers in this industry.

A lot of this is price gouging driven by the largest corporations in the world, who are all enjoying record profits at the expense of the American people.

I would invite the gentleman and others to join me on my windfall profits tax bill.

At least let's take on the oil industry with a windfall profits tax, and go after their price gouging.

Oregon, my home State, has been on the forefront of addressing historical underrepresentation of women, minorities, and disadvantaged individuals in the construction trades.

We also need to continue to protect Davis-Bacon prevailing wage. We want people to get a fair wage for their work.

We have tremendous opportunities with the bipartisan infrastructure bill, or the IIJA, or whatever you want to label it.
