Nearly three decades of poor management has left our Federal forests overstocked with trees and vegetation that fuel increasingly intense fire seasons.

These fires have left communities in my district blanketed with smoke and with the worst air quality in the world.

Something needs to change.

I absolutely hate that nothing is done to prevent this from happening.

Hazardous, dangerous, unhealthy air quality smoke from these wildfires is literally choking people to death.

CMS has to commit itself to implementing and enforcing its own regulations.

Let's be clear from the start: Twitter's algorithms have made mistakes and its methods for moderating and policing content have been opaque to consumers.

I appreciate your testimony on all these bills. We have got a lot of work to do, and we do it well on this subcommittee, and I appreciate the leadership of Dr. Burgess and yield back.

Today's hearing is another step forward to improve patient health care.

This bipartisan bill seeks to address that challenge by giving States a new option through the existing health home model.

This legislation would broaden that authority so that these units could investigate and prosecute abuse and neglect of Medicaid beneficiaries.

I look forward to our continued bipartisan work in this space.

Banning these so-called 'gag clauses' has gained tremendous bipartisan support.

Accessing affordable healthcare is a real important issue, and it is one we consistently try to tackle in this committee.

We reauthorized the FCC for the first time in 28 years under the RAY BAUM'S Act.

So here we do try to work together whenever we can on these issues, 18 bipartisan bills, the RAY BAUM'S Act, and I think we did 57 bills on opioids, virtually all of which were bipartisan.

The Commission's efforts in wildfire and hurricane response, its focus on emergency alerts and implementing improved call routing, location accuracy are key priorities for all of us.

I will just add, that while I am pleased the Commission issued its hearing designation order for the Sinclair merger--and in doing so acknowledged the near universal concerns about Sinclair's honesty and candor--I am extremely concerned…

This hearing is not meant to drive a preordained policy or to settle scores.

It is my desire to move legislation that will pave the future of transportation fuels into the next decades in the United States.

This hearing is intended to be educational, and for those of you of a certain vintage, some of you may remember something called encyclopedias like World Book or Britannica.

Today's hearing will help bring much-needed attention to this issue.

In fact, in my own district out in Oregon, a father named Mike told me about the troubling experience he had when his son was seeking treatment for addiction.
