It is my great honor and high privilege to yield 1 minute to the gentleman from Wisconsin (Mr. Ryan), the Speaker of the House and my dear friend and classmate from the class of `98.

I am honored to yield 1 minute to the gentleman from Texas (Mr. Brady), the distinguished and talented chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

It's a whole of government effort, but DOE, in particular, must be vigilant and prepared when it comes to ensuring energy access and delivery through cyber threats, physical threats, and emergency situations.

The reliable supply and delivery of energy is vital to our Nation's economy, our national security, and the public health and welfare of our citizens.

Protecting our Nation's energy infrastructure is critical to maintaining so much of the American way of life.

This is part of a very vibrant discussion we are going to be having on this committee.

Good afternoon, and thank you to our witnesses for joining us today to talk about the rapidly changing state of the media marketplace.

Fast forward to 2018, more people watch Netflix than any other cable network, and Blockbuster has closed nearly every one of its stores.

It goes without saying that consumers in 2018 have unprecedented access to high-quality media content.

New platforms and variety in content have changed the way consumers spend their time and money, and the industry is responding accordingly.

I also want to thank my colleague and friend from Colorado, Diana DeGette, for her partnership on the draft legislation that is before us today.

I want to thank Congresswoman Herrera Beutler, my neighbor to the north in Washington State, for bringing this issue to our attention.

Far too many mothers die because of complications during pregnancy, and the effects of such a tragedy on any family is impossible to fully understand.

Jobs in goods-producing industries--mining, construction and manufacturing--grew 3.3 percent in the year preceding July, the best rate since 1984.

The latest manufacturing index from the Institute for Supply Management has reached its highest level in 14 years.

Thanks to historic achievements in tax and regulatory reform, our country is undergoing a manufacturing revival unlike any we've seen in a long time.

Unfortunately, we have found that some states have diverted their 9-1-1 funds that were assessed for this specific purpose.

We have a duty to ensure that the 6,000 public safety answering points or PSAPs nationwide that manage our 9-1-1 systems are actually receiving these vital funds.

I was a cosponsor of that legislation to do landscape scale collaboratives that we are using in Oregon today.

It makes no sense. I am told there are statistics that--it costs four to five times as much to fight a fire as it does to do the kind of work you and I agree needs to be done on the forest.

I fully agree with you on the need to solve the fire borrowing issue. I have been an advocate of doing that from day one.
