I assure you that the left-wing media will not ever report that it was--it is going to be a centerpiece.

One of our fundamental constitutional duties is to produce a budget. First--it is the first clause of the enumerated powers.

I am also a firm believer in our 10th Amendment. The Constitution says the states can do it better than we can in Washington, D.C.

I appreciate what you said about having no thresholds because my experience is that anytime any government applies a threshold to anything there is always gaming of that system.

Just for the record, nobody that is in business is opposed to collecting tax and remitting tax to the proper jurisdiction.

But it does create a little bit of an awkward scenario for us as far as authority from the Federal government going inside of a state and telling a state how they are to collect their own taxes in their own state when the business resides…

This isn't a red or blue issue.

I would hope with your new leadership role that we would, I think without making you go on the record, I think you would find that somewhat problematic for a rule to go into effect.

I want to state for the record that I am a huge supporter of SBA and what you do for small business owners.

This bill is a misguided attempt by my colleagues across the aisle to pander to the folks in their base through destroying our domestic energy production.

Curbing our ability to produce energy in the United States will not solve the problem of global emissions.

We ought to thank the President for keeping his promise to produce a budget.

The first constitutional responsibility that we have, as a Congress, is the power of the purse, to produce a budget.

I find that it is essential that we have the necessary checks and balances in place to ensure that the SBA's loan programs are being properly executed and that the government is not being taken advantage of due to lack of oversight.

Madam Chairwoman, if I may, I would like to recognize the fact that the SBA sent somebody that actually has answers to some of our questions. I really appreciate that.

As the Ranking Member of the Small Business Committee, Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access, I understand the need for small businesses and entrepreneurs to obtain access to capital.

To go from self-sufficiency to reliance on a $99 billion subsidy leaves me with numerous questions.

No nation in history has maintained its military power if it failed to keep its fiscal house in order.

In four short years, however, we will be paying more on interest on our debt that will be a bigger bill than we pay for our national defense.

Congress has failed. This Committee has failed to do its job and get--the House on both sides of the aisle have failed to get that done in the last 30--24 years.

This is not a Republican issue. This is not a Democrat issue. This is a national security issue.

I think it is being very clear that every step of the way my colleagues across the aisle have been trying to curtail the successes that we have seen in the fossil fuel industry.

As someone who understands the negative effect my colleagues' actions would cause on an American industry, I cannot support their initiatives.

They would rather fuel the extremely litigious, anti-energy lobby and outsource regulatory requirements to a Board funded by their friends.
