I thank the gentleman from Texas for his thoughts and observations. We arrive at a moment in this Special Order when we begin to focus on a conclusion. You have heard this evening from Democrats and Republicans alike. You have heard from…

My colleague is exactly right. Sometimes even in the institution and amongst the family, we forget how important the critical role that the staff plays is, their understanding of the issues, their vast experience and ability to focus. Jenn…
I thank the ranking member for her very thoughtful and extremely accurate comments. Mr. Speaker, I yield to the gentleman from Florida (Mr. Posey), who is another Member who has worked extensively with our dear friend.
I appreciate the opportunity from leadership to be able to spend a little time this evening on what I define as a very, very important subject. Mr. Speaker, in the rancorous world we live in these days there is a tendency for people who…
I thank the gentlewoman from Oregon for her comments. Many people may notice that several of us are wearing an Oregon Ducks pin that has ``CANCER'' on it. It shows the Oregon Duck's foot smashing it. That is a symbol to us of Jenn's…
I respect the courts. I respect differences of opinion. But when the science is generated by people closer to the issue in the field and the use, I think we have to give them the benefit of the doubt.
In short, this bill streamlines NOAA's operations, it makes it easier to carry out critical environmental research and weather forecasting.
The proposed rules have a major impact on every asset class under the SEC's jurisdiction, with serious consequences for public companies, investors, and retirees.
I believe it is clear that the SEC should not move forward until a proper impact analysis can be conducted.
Importantly, this bill would provide the opportunity for greater accountability by allowing Congress to engage in a level of oversight which has not been possible new to--due to NOAA's unwieldy structure.
I encourage all my colleagues to listen closely as they point out the difficulties they faced and how an organic act can avoid these problems in the future.
NOAA is one of the most important agencies within our committee's jurisdiction.
However, my belief is that NOAA's mission and its important role in research and development warrant a placement outside of the Department of Commerce.
Can you tell me how it is possible, when this special assessment fee process is completed, that my community bankers aren't going to wind up disproportionately paying for the mistakes and the folderol of the biggest institutions in the…
Written statement by Representative Frank Lucas, Chairman, Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, U.S. House of Representatives.
I look forward to working with you, and Ranking Member Lynch, and the rest of the subcommittee.
The SEC contends that digital asset intermediaries can simply go in and register.
However, I am concerned that the Fed could be heading in that direction and could be laying the groundwork for climate-related stress tests that would reduce access to capital for entire sectors of the economy.
We have seen, for example, this Administration turn to regulators to impose climate policy as an alternative to the legislative process.
As you discussed earlier, and as you have consistently assured us, the Fed is not a climate-making policymaker.
This would also potentially open up the Federal Reserve to political pressure and force the Fed, in fact, to make policy decisions related to climate change.
I have often said that the role--that I view the role of Congress to do things for people, not to people.
The future of ag, energy, manufacturing in Oklahoma and across the country is dependent on tax and trade policies that work for these industries, not against them.
