Marcy Kaptur

When I think back to last fall, Mr. Paulson used the tactic of fear that intimidated the Congress, in my opinion, and many people in the country.

Anticipation. Thank you.

I guess I just find it surprising. If you look at a 2-year time horizon, a 3-year time horizon, a 4-year time horizon, the way I look at the world, that isn't a very long time at all.

You were quoted in the New York Times, October 23rd, stating anybody making $100 million a year is engaged in excessive risk.

I think we need a whole new set of people. In fact, I would support legislation to not allow any of these executives who have been involved in these terrible, terrible schemes to have any relationship with the federal government or do…

We need very diligent investigation, because control fraud is a distinct possibility in many of the securitization schemes that were developed.

I have a bill to recoup the bonuses.

If that's what it takes, they certainly made a mess of it. I think we need a whole new set of people, in fact.

They should be leaders in helping our country dig its way out of this financial mess that we're in. But they're part of the problem, not part of the solution.

We need a country that changes its values from one of greed and excess to a culture of responsibility and prudence.

There is a culture of greed and excess that operates at the highest levels.

Because no one is standing up to them.

I would support legislation to not allow any of these executives who have been involved in these terrible, terrible schemes to have any relationship with the federal government or do business with the federal government again.

Well, because America needs it right now. And I think they should be leaders. They should try to make up to the country some of the -- for some of the damage that they have done.

I don't think I should have had to actually go and hire an agency to get that point across to the Census Bureau.

If you think there is a recession going on in 48 States, come visit Michigan and Ohio.

I know that we will have between 10 million and 20 million people in this country whose homes will be foreclosed by next year. That is a shocking figure.

You have signed a contract with BlackRock to manage the Freddie and Fannie portfolios, have you not, the troubled mortgages within those portfolios?

Are you aware that one of the contracts BlackRock manages for the Fed may be compromised?

How much more of our rising debt is being provided by foreign creditors now as our debt rises? Can you provide that for the record?

These bankers have earned huge profits for themselves, but when their imprudent behavior causes vast economic dislocation, they throw the cost of that on the backs of the taxpayers

Isn't this a conflict on interest from perspective? Please elaborate here.

Will the contracts be released to the Congress?
