I want this body to know, therefore, that the women of the House do want, especially these two provisions, to be enacted. One is subtitle A for law enforcement and prosecution grants to States to strengthen law enforcement and prosecution strategies to combat violent crimes against women. The other are grants to encourage arrest policies. We cannot say enough about the need to encourage and implement arrests when, in fact, we know that, in very many of these cases, that is really the only strategy to prevent violence against women and children. Beyond these two sections of the gentleman's amendment are a number that I personally support, and I believe the great majority of the women in the House support, but are not on our list of bills. We have already met with the minority leader because the Women's Caucus has seven must-pass bills this year that we have overwhelming support in our caucus for.
