Kathy Hochul is the 57th Governor of New York, having assumed office on August 24, 2021. She is the first female governor of the state. Prior to her governorship, Hochul served as the Lieutenant Governor of New York from January 1, 2015, until she became governor. Throughout her political career, she has focused on issues such as economic development, women's rights, and public safety.
I want to make sure you know how proud I am to be associated with this powerhouse of a union.
For more than 60 years, Rochester has waited to see this historic landmark restored, and today we're delivering on that promise.

While the federal government may not be there for us, I want you to know that the state government is. We take this very seriously. We understand that when a federal government fails, we have to step up, and our local governments deserve…
And I just want to say it was enormously disappointing for us to learn from Washington that they denied our disaster declaration to get reimbursement for the communities from the snowstorm here on Long Island that we applied for.
And so that's why I just want to say we're here to help. We also need our federal partners…to fight hard for that money and see if they can get the federal government to reverse that decision that is going to hurt the people they represent.
