We want to know how many of these cases there is some evidence of wrongdoing, whether it is criminal or not. And we want, categorically, immediately, the disposition of the 75 cases.

Listen, if this was our grandkids that was going through this, we will find some way to expedite it. These are our grandkids. They vote, you know?

Listen, you have 600 cases... That are in question. You know where they are.

As far as those 75, aren't you in a position to come before this committee and say that, 'Yes, some mistakes were made...'

Did you hear that there was an accusation that it could be 600 cases?

We all understand the law. We, together, are a part of government. We answer to constituents.

I know what you can't get. And I agree with the chairman, that is outrageous.

It is painful for me to see that this torture continues without coming to a shrieking halt.

It doesn't justify it--has absolutely nothing to do with them not fulfilling their moral responsibilities to treat Americans and taxpayers with the dignity that they deserve.

These horror stories, it is hard to believe that this could happen in our country.

I hope that this hearing is not just an excuse to cut things and to be negative, but to find out how we can better use our resources for a better country.

It is absolutely stupid to say that: Working gives you self-esteem, it gives you pride, it gives you family unity, it keeps you out of trouble, it gives you health, and it gives you what it is like to be an American.

We have to train people who are not working, not productive, for jobs that we are begging for people to have these skills in order to work.

No matter what differences one might have with you, we all know that it is a common goal to make America stronger.

Poverty doesn't work. The corollary to that is work eliminates poverty.

I think there is a wide range of areas that we can work with the IRS and be cooperative in a bipartisan way.

I think we ought to take this up with the Justice Department.

I hate to say we are from the Congress and we are here to help you, but quite frankly, are these fly-by-night individuals? Is this an organized national scheme?

It seems as though the criminals have been bipartisan in their attempt to defraud innocent congressional people.

And I am asking, based on your experience, do you find that to be more effective than when the IRS trained the collectors?

I am trying to connect you with hedge fund providers. That is what I am trying to do.

It pains me to have struggled so long for expansion of health care to find people that would be anxious to repeal it and not to have a plan to suggest how the vacuum will be filled.

I will be serious to find out is it at all possible for you to present the plan that you have to us for us to look at?

Okay. We welcome the Mexican jobs coming back to the United States. We appreciate it.

It is a real comfort for us to be doing something where the witnesses are pleased that we are helping to improve competition with U.S. firms.
