We are real. Remember that we are already fighting these battles in our backyards, not just for ourselves but for everyone upstream too.

In order to help foster a healthier economy, it is vital to remember that the community organizations engage our residents and educate residents about the effects of climate change, sea-level rise, and restoration efforts.

My emphasis is personal, tangible, and has dire consequences to real people who call Louisiana home.

And I support military spending, particularly for the men and women who are in active duty, who are living on marginal wages.

I want to make it absolutely clear, at least for myself and I believe most of my colleagues on this side, that is not the case.

When is Congress going to act to address the issues of climate change?

This is an issue that is very important to each of us individually, collectively, to the future of our children.

Because of the ACA, insurance companies can no longer deny coverage or charge more because of a preexisting condition.

I am committed, as my colleagues are on this side of the aisle, to do everything that I can to strengthen the Affordable Care Act.

It says a lot that you made this issue of preexisting conditions and the hearing today the first priority of this Committee.

I stand here today on behalf of the hardworking Nevadans hurt most by this recent shutdown: The 3,512 Federal workers in Nevada who are missing out on paychecks; the 34,000 people in my district who could lose their nutritional assistance…

The wrongdoing that did occur needs to be held accountable.

Do we have any idea how much taxpayer money is lost on granting tax exemption to groups that would otherwise be ineligible for 501(c)(4) status?

Because of the recent Citizens United decision, which created the huge influx of the number of organizations that were applying for tax exemption status, has contributed to this problem, has it not?

I agree with him that the majority of Americans want the truth, accountability and the agency to restore trust with the American people.

But that is not an issue of the leadership of that department?

I appreciate that clarification.

Has any information that you have requested from the Department ultimately been withheld from you?

So, Mr. Horowitz, as a preliminary matter, has all of the information you have sought from the Department been provided to you?

In each instance the Attorney General or the Deputy Attorney General provided us with the permission to receive the materials.

Unfortunately, as usual, it turns into a bit more partisan than it should.
