As part of this privacy discussion, we must prioritize protecting children in this increasingly online world.
Since this Committee held a hearing to protect consumer data two weeks ago, consumers have already been subjected to two extraordinary data breaches.
It is like waiting for the cops, to call the cops and tell them you have been speeding.
It seems like hardly a week goes by that there are not new examples of how tech companies are just not doing enough to protect consumer privacy.
We need to explore what that world looks like for those in transition from teenage to adulthood.
I do think that one thing that is really great about that Act is that it gave rulemaking authority to the Federal Trade Commission.
We greatly appreciate Senator Udall's leadership in championing this provision.
I would suggest the staff to take a look at the testimony that came in because I think there are some very, very good things there that enlighten us a lot.
