I have heard quite a bit about not just the added cost, in their minds, of these fees, but something that is maybe less tangible, but even more powerful: the indignity of a world in which we are constantly dividing and subdividing our fellow Americans into different classes, better or worse.

I think most of the folks in my district who I represent, who have jobs today and would not have--I think we kind of agree some of them would not have jobs today--believe and would probably argue that it was worth it.
