“This week, our constituents are going to have taxes taken out of their paycheck. And each week we go home for the weekend they ask us, ``Congressman, what did you spend my money on this week? If my colleagues are prepared to tell their constituents that this week they spent their money to help the McDonald's Corp. in Brazil, then oppose our amendment. If my colleagues are prepared to tell their constituents that this week they spent their money to help the General Electric Corp. in Hungary, then oppose our amendment. But if my colleagues believe, as we do, that the time has come to have equity in the way we disperse welfare and to stop corporate welfare, then support our amendment, as so many did in voting to limit OPIC last year.”
