I had proposed an amendment to provide $2 million to the Secretary of Defense in order to assist the Department of Defense in ensuring that computers and computer-related products that the Department purchases from the commercial sector meet the highest level of national security and information security requirements. Unfortunately, my amendment was not ruled in order. This is a very important topic to me, and I hope to have the chairman's support as I continue to discuss and promote the need for information assurance within the Department of Defense.
