Absolutely. The Senator from Vermont is right. I have called this legislation the ultimate neocolonialism we as a Congress would be passing. It treats the citizens of Puerto Rico like subjects, not citizens. It doesn't allow them to have a voice. They get no one on the control board. Yet the control board can dictate budgets. It can dictate budget cuts. It can dictate what is or is not sufficient for the running of essential services. It will dictate whether the pensions get treated fairly. My colleague is correct.
