I rise this morning to speak in favor of S. 47, the Senate version of the Violence Against Women Act. I want to thank Speaker Boehner and Leader Cantor for their leadership in bringing this important bill to the floor. The bottom line is that VAWA programs help save lives in New Jersey and across America. We need to expand the current success of VAWA so that we can help even more women escape the nightmare of domestic violence. While we are long overdue in passing this bill, I'm glad we are here today, and I urge my colleagues to support S. 47.
