I think the point that I was making was that a jail sentence per se, a long jail sentence, wouldn't serve the purposes of retribution. Wouldn't educate society as to homophobia.
I have to begin today with humility by simply saying, I am sorry. So, so sorry that mistakes in my judgment made this day necessary for us all.
