Obviously, my concern is that, in states most heavily impacted by the opioid epidemic, if you have cuts to Medicaid that that may lead to cuts in addiction treatment and exacerbate the process.

Yet, Republicans persist in their attempts to gut the Medicaid program by capping it permanently, and ending Medicaid expansion as part of its efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

I fear that if Republicans are successful in passing TrumpCare, we will end up going in the opposite direction when it comes to fighting the drug problem that has so devastated our communities.

These cuts could not come at a worse time from the perspective of the opioids crisis for states and for people who depend on the coverage Medicaid provides.

I believe Morgan Griffith's bill, H.R. 1703, is a serious, well-thought-out policy proposal that responsibly sets the rules of the road in a constitutionally sound manner.
