On the recordSeptember 4, 1997
I just wanted to point out when we talk about the caste system, that the caste system is illegal under the Indian Constitution. Twenty-five percent of the members of India's Parliament are so-called untouchables. The President of India, which is the Chief of State, is from the so-called untouchable class, and untouchables are constitutionally protected. Anyone can be prosecuted, and people are prosecuted, if they discriminate against those people of the so-called untouchable caste.
