I think what the gentleman said in particular about the fact that this amount of damages, the $250,000 has no basis in fact. During the Committee on Commerce hearing last week, I asked many times, where does the $250,000 come from? What is it based on? The reply: the California statute. And that was passed years ago. So we can argue that just based on inflation alone, that that is no longer relevant. But then again, the Republicans just want to move ahead, steamroll it, and they are just not really interested in the reality of this and what really matters to the victims.
