“I am convinced, of course, that they are well-intentioned, but the bottom line is that the Republican leadership proposal is illusionary. It is not going to really help the average senior citizen. That kind of hoax, if you will, even if it is not intentional, I do not believe that it is, is not fair. They are crying out for relief. They need attention. They are having problems buying prescription drugs, and they tell us about it every day. This is real. We just cannot stay here in the Congress, in the well here and say that we are going to do something when we are not, or certainly something that is not going to be meaningful for them, because this is such an important issue.”
