I appreciate the very knowledgeable comments of Senator Breaux. He is correct that there are significant potential cost reductions in both the establishment and operation of the VTS 2000 system. Both of my colleagues can rest assured that I will keep these issues clearly in focus as we deliberate the fiscal year 1997 Transportation appropriations bill in conference with the other body.
