As we do almost every week, my colleagues and I are here on the floor this evening to urge the people's House to take up the issues that matter to the people. This week, we are still reeling from the tragedy in South Carolina. My colleagues and I are urging Members on both sides of the aisle to take a look at an issue we have consistently and painfully avoided for years, what we are doing to prevent gun violence. Mr. Speaker, I yield to the gentlewoman from Michigan (Mrs. Lawrence).
