On the recordJuly 25, 2006
I think that those who have come before us today have highlighted how critical this legislation is to the American people. In the Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Emergency Preparedness for our police, our fire and EMS, we believe that unless the Homeland Security Department puts more emphasis and boots on the ground than those people who are there every day and every night, that we are never going to get this right in protecting America. This bill seeks to do that, and, hopefully, within a very short period of time, we will look and find the funding, and I have suggested one place today, so that we will take care of those needs of homeland security and protecting our families.
