If I did not mean it, I would not say it. When our institutions are under attack, they choose not to be timid. They choose not to be the yellow light. They choose to come forward. Every one of the folks on each side stated what they wanted to state in all honesty. We were very frank with one another. This is about restoring integrity to the Congress of the United States of America. We propelled the discussions. Who would have thought we would be here today in February of 1997? It was our wildest imagination. I want to thank each of them. I am honored to have served with them and the members of the committee. This is not a day of proponents or opponents. This is a day for this body to come together, to be very clear where we stand on campaign finance reform.
