I rise to support the Furse amendment and to say we should find ways to sustain our forests. We should not find ways to rapidly disregard our environmental standards. This does not mean there are not opportunities to salvage dead and dying timber. But it does suggest that we should not have a salvage program that ignores ecological standards that will sustain our forests.
