Tim Walz is an American politician serving as the 41st governor of Minnesota since January 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Minnesota's 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2019. During his time in Congress, Walz focused on issues such as veterans' affairs, education, and healthcare, advocating for policies that support working families and rural communities.
But I would also like to thank Ranking Member Kirkpatrick for her work on this and for the opportunity to allow me to be here today.
I do think it is admirable that there is going to be a connection to whether these things are followed through with.
When my folks at Mayo Clinic tell me that the cardiology at Mayo, Minneapolis, is the best in the world, that is a good thing.
Our goal, and this is very, simple: uphold the promise we made to our veterans by ending the backlog and getting the benefits they earned.
This piece of legislation, it is very simple. Our measure would simply allow local doctors to conduct disability medical examinations for veterans.
With the hard-earned experience of two major wars during the last 12 years, Americans have developed a renewed understanding of the need to support our service members in battle and throughout their active-duty service.
All they expect is that, in return for their service, our nation keeps its promises to them.
