Betty McCollum

Betty Louise McCollum is a U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 4th congressional district, serving since January 3, 2001. A member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, she has focused her legislative efforts on education, healthcare, and environmental issues. Throughout her tenure, McCollum has been an advocate for policies that support public education funding, access to affordable healthcare, and initiatives aimed at combating climate change. She has also been involved in various committees and has played a role in shaping national policy on these critical issues.
Quite often, when we are in the middle of marking up this particular bill, a colleague of ours, Mr. Quigley, has an amendment to make all the CRS reports available to the public online.
It sends a message to the people who had been previously doing this job: You can work for less money, or your work is not valued.
Sometimes it is a very heavy family discussion about whether or not people are going to stay in the Reserves.
This just isn't about leadership to put up and to be quiet about it. This is also about leadership to see if we need to go back and review and figure out how these folks are not only trained but deployed in the future.
I commend people who decide to continue in the Reserves after their discharge.

We are going to be watching to see what happens with county veterans service offices in Minnesota's caseloads.
The operating tempo has been drastically increased so the number of training days for National Guard soldiers went from 60 to 90.
