I appreciate today's opportunity to hear from Chief Manger on the security enhancements the Department has made over the past year.

We have continued to pursue more information on this issue.

We are not a dictatorship. We are a democracy. And we must support that.

At some point, they've got to make a decision.

I believe that no matter if you are a Democrat or a Republican watching your show right now, that there is something larger than our differences. And that is our democracy itself.

We have a situation where we saw what happened on January 6 but it didn't end there. Since then, we've seen a coordinated assault on our democracy, whether it is taking away weekend voting during the runoffs in Georgia, or taking away…

You do that, by figuring out exactly what happened, holding people accountable, no matter who they are, and yes, passing on the torch, to the next generation, of this democracy, by making sure there's strong rules, in place, to protect the…

We are proud of our democracy. The world is watching us.

That's what's going on. That's what Liz Cheney is doing, by the way, by being willing, to put her entire political career, at risk, by supporting, going forward, with the investigation, over in the House.

It is an assault on our democracy. And it is part of a plan. And it is our job, as senators, to put aside everything else, right now, in my mind, and protect our democracy.

The filibuster is back.

And if January 6 stood for anything, it was that in the end, despite the horror of the day, democracy prevailed.

I think that option must be on the table. And I hope we have a vote on that.

Bob Dole once said, we’re a first-class democracy, and we shouldn’t treat people like second-class citizens, which is what’s going on right now with what’s happening in the states on voting.

I would get rid of the filibuster in a minute if I could. I think there’s -- it does not meet the challenges of our time.

Those agreement on substance on the voting belt the stakes are incredibly high. We can`t wait. So we are simply making the case to get this done, and to allow the Senate to debate the bill.

I want to just say how grateful I am for Senator Ben Ray Lujan's leadership on this issue as well.

It is our obligation, our moral obligation to address that.

You better tell the truth. You are under oath.

You think you have done enough?

Our kids aren't cash cows.

You have the money to do it.

I think that is--I think every parent feels that way.
