I appreciate the work Senator Manchin and a group of us did together trying to fix that.

We know these claims about the Vice President's authority were false.

The Electoral Count Act was passed in 1887, as I noted, in response to the disputed election between Rutherford Hayes and Samuel Tilden.

I am not a big fan of the 1876 election.

The solution is housing, and this is not like we do not know what to do. It is just a question of whether we have the will to do it.

Justice Thomas laid out a roadmap in his opinion that everything`s on the line, not just abortion, but contraception, same sex marriage, that`s why the House passed the bill under Nancy Pelosi`s leadership, and now it is over in the senate.

We are close to moving forward on major election reform. I am not giving that up, one bit, when you look at all the games that are being played in the states, and laws that are being passed to limit the right to vote.

This hearing could not come at a more important time as we are seeing an unprecedented flood of money into our elections.

The DISCLOSE Act would address secret money in our politics by requiring outside groups... to disclose their large donors.

Unlimited anonymous spending in our elections does not encourage free speech, it actually drowns out the voices of American people who are seeking to participate.

Americans know there is way too much money in our elections, and for our democracy to work, we need strong rules to make sure the American people know who is spending the money on the campaigns.

I think we know how important it is and how critical it is to take action to get secret money out of our elections.

And I think it’s also important to note, when you see the actions of the attorney general, Republican attorney general of Texas today, who was actually trying to stop the Biden administration’s effort to say, well, at least, this one…

People are trying to pretend this is not happening. They say things so that you don’t think it’s real, but we’re going to find out pretty quickly just how real this is.

And to think that the law in these states now says that that little girl, that her family, can’t make that decision about whether or not she would carry a baby of a rapist, but instead the politicians have decided that she would have to.

Look at what just happened. We had a ten year old get raped in Ohio, and then had to go to Indiana to get an abortion.

Of course, we should never settle for a situation where women in Minnesota have different rights than women in Missouri, or when women in Illinois have different rights than women in Texas.

We want these buses manufactured in the United States, and the more that we can have the components for these buses, including microchips, also manufactured in the United States, I think we are going to be much better off.
