Members are pretending that our problems today are so important that it justifies taking the money that our kids and grandkids have not even earned yet. It is sort of like breaking into their piggy bank and saying I will try and pay you back some time, but for now let us go out and buy some candy bars and ice cream. There might be a better word, but ``unconscionable'' comes to my mind to consider the burden of debt, to consider the burden of promises that exceed our ability to pay for them in terms of unfunded liabilities that we are placing on future generations.
