Now, skin cancer is an epidemic in the United States. It is a pressing public health issue, is it not?

It is clear to me that skin cancer is today a major public health crisis in this country, and legislation is needed to improve FDA's review of new sunscreen ingredients.

You just can't defend the fact that these things have been sitting around for 8 to 12 years.

There is no reason why a piece of legislation like this is necessary after 10 years.

ODI decided not to elevate that review to a more formal investigation because there was a lack of discernible trend.

NHTSA's Special Crash Investigation program is something separate and distinct from the formal ODI investigations process.
