We owe it to our local communities, our local retailers, and state and local governments to act this Congress.

The unfair advantage that remote sellers have by not collecting sales taxes hurts us all.

Lost tax revenues mean that state and local governments will have fewer resources to provide their residents essential services.

This Committee should first focus on establishing without further delay a national framework that will empower the states to enforce collection by remote sellers.

But the fact of the matter is, how do we change this culture? This goes back a long ways.

The American people speak through those elections.

I think both have evidenced a desire to work with Congress.

And if not filled, then woe be unto the entire Nation.

I keep reviewing the American Airlines-US Airways merger, and I'm not as enthusiastic about it as some people are.

We are very cautious and wary of efforts of some in our legislature to undermine some of the important authority that we have.
