So, the message today is we got the votes to act, and we got the votes to act because of some courageous Republicans.

This is a good day. It's a good day for Ukraine. It's a good day for America. It's a good day for those who oppose tyranny.

If we cannot recruit and retain highly qualified officers by offering competitive pay and benefits, we will be unable to provide adequate protection to Members, staff, and visitors - and to the institution of Congress itself.

Even more egregious is that this Republican Majority is complicit by refusing to hold the President and his appointees accountable.

Again and again, we see this President undermine our democracy, test the limits of the rule of law, and enrich himself and his friends at taxpayers’ expense.

The terms and scope of this settlement raise serious questions about the ability of the Justice Department to operate under this Administration free from unjust political influence.

Now, the President believes he is the law. That is a dangerous phenomenon, ladies and gentlemen.

Today’s settlement is another important step towards those efforts.

The brave men and women of Ukraine are waiting.
