Do we really want to create a financial incentive for them to go to work and spread whatever it is they have?

Paid family medical leave is a fixture in advanced countries around the world, and I think a lot of them look at America with some shock and scandal that the wealthiest country on earth does not provide paid family medical leave.

There is a new culture of impunity and immunity in America, and we just heard some of it from one of our colleagues.

And so we need to pass this legislation to close this made-up loophole, which is allowing them to get away with pocketing billions of dollars while the people of America suffer.

And I would hope that every member of this committee who really cares about people who have been injured by the outrageous actions of the Sacklers would get behind this act, this bill that we put together to try to overthrow this…

This is an outrageous loophole made up by a bunch of judges.

A family that exploits drug trafficking and the addictive qualities of its product is not one that should elicit the sympathy of the U.S. Congress.

A corporation that exploits drug trafficking is not a corporation that deserves our sympathy, as Mr. Clyde suggests, but it is a cartel.

I have called the Sackler family the most evil family in America.

The SACKLER Act is commonsense reform that has been co-sponsored by 50 Members of Congress.

It is deeply disappointing that the Department of Justice has been complicit in devising this plan to let the Sacklers off the hook.

The Sacklers can't have it both ways.

I am outraged that the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma have profited off of the suffering of so many families and communities.

It is imperative that Congress act swiftly to prevent the Sacklers and other bad actors like them from manipulating the bankruptcy system.

Well, Madam Chair, I just want to say this company had overwhelming evidence it was unsafe for babies to sleep at an incline, even for short periods.

I would much rather be accused of being a lawyer for those families than acting as a pro bono counsel for this corporation.

Their recipe for survival is voter suppression and disenfranchisement as many people outside of the Republican Party as possible.

The Republican Party is a minority party and it’s a shrinking party, and they understand that.

America is coming back because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are leading us and making a real investment in the American people.

One of these bills, whether it is gun safety or HR-1 and voting rights or the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, or the Third Reconstruction legislation, one of them is going to be the straw that breaks the camel`s back.

We need a coherent strategy that provides state law enforcement with adequate resources to coordinate regional responses to this threat.
