I have been really struck by your tremendous leadership with compassion, leadership with civility, and leadership and bipartisanship.

All the Paycheck Fairness Act is trying to do is get employers to really pay attention to what is the consequences of the pay system that they set up and are responsible for.

We are instead going to create another program so that we can once again overpromise and underdeliver.

It seems to me that quite a number of people believe that our Federal Government is not properly funding Title I.

I think most South Dakotans would acknowledge that there have been good attempts by policymakers to meet their constitutional obligations.

I represent South Dakota, and in my state, as I suspect there are in many states, there is constitutional obligation for them to adequately fund education.

In my district, we have heavily invested in those schools and it is not just the facility.

We have made the tough choices. I was a city commissioner and the local mayor, and we made those tough choices, and we had to raise property taxes to do it, but we believe in education, and we funded that.

All of my children went to public schools in Johnson City, Tennessee.
