Could you work with us to create those alternative response mechanisms?

I think it is really important we do.

I hope you would agree that we should lead by example.

If we don't show up around the world, we lose, and this budget says we're going to show up.

We've also seen, as you know, some of our adversaries, especially China, using the vaccine in a quid pro quo fashion.

Thank you and the President for restoring confidence in our allies and taking on our adversaries and reviving American global leadership.

I fully support that effort. I think that has to be, you know, part of the understanding and commitment made by UNRWA and its leadership.

I'm glad to see that you've committed the $80 million--excuse me--80 million doses as well as the $4 billion.

After two decades and thousands of lives lost, $2 trillion later, we are leaving Afghanistan and nobody has a real sense of satisfaction.

We want to reaffirm our commitment to democracy, to fundamental rights, to act as a leader of the Free World.

The last Administration trivialized climate change. They dismissed the COVID pandemic as nothing to worry about.

We are in a rapidly changing, interconnected, increasingly dangerous world, as you know.

I hope that you will work with me to resolve this situation.

I appreciate the U.S. Department of State's hard work to help secure Mr. Ulucay's release.

We all recognize that a negotiated political solution is the only way forward in Afghanistan.

It essentially provides Foreign Service families serving overseas the same kind of amenities and benefits that many military families serving overseas have.

I think time is of the essence here given the schedule.

This is, in my view, an issue that requires a foreign policy/national security lens.

These are the kinds of decisions that involve the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury.

I support the overall contours of the budget that you and the President have submitted.

What more could we be doing in the Senate on a bipartisan basis to send a strong signal of support for taking decisive steps?

I would have thought that one of the most significant ways to show strength is to ensure that the pipeline is killed.

I believe that advancing an effective strategy to compete with the People's Republic of China must be the United States' top policy priority.

The United States must invest in and lead international institutions and stand up for international law.
