John Kennedy
The Public Record
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States, serving from January 20, 1961, until his assassination on November 22, 1963. A member of the Democratic Party, he was born in Massachusetts and is often remembered for his leadership during the Cuban Missile Crisis, which brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. The example of men and women rendering full-time service within the corps should motivate additional Americans to volunteer their services in their own communities.
Ours is the wealthiest of nations, yet one-sixth of our people live below minimal levels of health, housing, food and education.
Any person so appointed shall, upon completion of the prescribed probationary period, acquire a competitive status.
Now, Therefore, I, John F. Kennedy, President of the United States of America, do hereby invite the people of the United States to observe the period of April 15, 1963, through April 20, 1963, as National Harmony Week, with appropriate…
