We note the attacks on this progress. They come in the form of voter suppression – voter purges, attacks on democracy, attacks on equal opportunity in DE&I, banning of books, attacks to try to thwart this progress.

When we look at what is happening in this nation, we see an effort to impose a system of American apartheid.

The failure to provide Federal voting rights, voting rights for a Member of Congress and two U.S. Senators, for the 51st State, disproportionately impacts a large number of African American citizens of the United States.

It is axiomatic that the right to vote is fundamental to American democracy.

D.C., for many Federal programs and initiatives, is treated like a territory, which denies the residents of the District of Columbia, including its black residents, equal treatment and therefore equal representation.

An undercount means that political representation is going to be affected and an undercount means that the allocation of Federal funds are going to be affected.

Wise people change, fools never. And if they continue along the course that they are going, they will not hire enough people and an undercount is preordained.

All across the board. Every single health disparity would be exacerbated by an undercount because the list and the range of programs that rely on census data for the allocation of funds is long and deep.

A miss on the Census affects you the entire decade. It is not like you get a re-do the following year.
