Are the taxpayers in this country clamoring to get dark money out of politics, saying replace it--or not even replace it, add to it.
You know who is the biggest small dollar donor candidate in the history of politics? Our President, Donald J. Trump.
Nobody should codify lining the campaign coffers of people sitting around this dais, which this portion of the bill does.
I just don't think that is reasonable. I think this amendment is misplaced. I would urge that we oppose the amendment.
Tell me, tell me that this is something that we should put through to the American people that is going to nationalize our election processes.
We want everybody to vote. We want everybody to be registered to vote. But in the end, we want to make sure those who are voting are voting in the districts that they are eligible to vote in.
This provision requires the registering of 16- and 17-year-olds who are, in fact, not eligible to vote, only furthering that risk.
H.R. 1 also overreaches our Constitution by taking the power away from States to decide how their elections should be administered.
We want to make sure that vote by mail is utilized in a manner throughout this Nation.
