Honestly, my friends, it never occurred to me that we`d have a challenge getting people to take the vaccine.

We`re less safe as a result of this self-inflicted wound. This was an unforced error. A foreign policy, blunder, gargantuan proportion.

The fact is that 90 percent of the people in the hospitals in Kentucky and around the country have one thing in common. They`re unvaccinated. So, if you know somebody is not vaccinated, for goodness sake, get vaccinated.

But for those who thought it was important to get out, at least it`s important to have a plan. This has been an absolute debacle and an embarrassment of staying on the reputation of United States of America.

I think the President deserves a lot of credit for getting the democrats open to reaching a bipartisan agreement on this bill.

It`s guaranteed to be the kind of legislation that no member on either side of the aisle will think is perfect. But it`s an important basic duty of government. I`m glad to see these discussions making progress.
