Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate from 2005 to 2008 and served in the Illinois State Senate from 1997 to 2004. Obama is known for his signature policies including the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, and his efforts in economic recovery following the 2008 financial crisis. His presidency was marked by significant legislative achievements and a focus on healthcare reform, climate change, and foreign policy initiatives such as the Iran nuclear deal.
When we break out of the conventional thinking and we start reaching out to friend and foe alike, then I am absolutely confident that we can restore America's leadership in the world.
We're going to lead with our values and our ideals by deed and by example.
What makes the most difference in any child's education is the person standing at the front of the classroom.
Let's not pass a law called No Child Left Behind and then leave the money behind.
No American should feel like their education system isn't designed for them.
When I'm President, we'll give our kids everything they need to have a fighting chance.
We'll invest in programs that offer everything from counseling for new mothers to afterschool programs to free medical services, and job counseling for parents.
Instead of driving thousands of children who were on the right path into the shadows, we need to give those who play by the rules the opportunity to succeed.
That's the America that I'm running for President to help bring about.
