Barack Obama
The Public Record
Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate from 2005 to 2008 and served in the Illinois State Senate from 1997 to 2004. Obama is known for his signature policies including the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, and his efforts in economic recovery following the 2008 financial crisis. His presidency was marked by significant legislative achievements and a focus on healthcare reform, climate change, and foreign policy initiatives such as the Iran nuclear deal.
It is time to turn the page on eight years of economic policies that put Wall Street before Main Street but ended up hurting both.
I believe that we can steer ourselves out of this crisis because I believe in this country.
The American people don't want to hear politicians attack each other – you want to hear about how we're going to attack the challenges facing middle class families each and every day.
The future that you and I seek for our children is too important to let up now.
We are all connected; we're all in this together; and we will rise or fall as one nation – as one people.
We need policies that grow our economy from the bottom-up, so that every American, everywhere, has the chance to get ahead.
I think every single American has a right to affordable accessible health care.
I want to give a break to 95 percent of middle class Americans – folks who need it and deserve it.
