Are your members unnecessarily burdened by the Corps' conflicting and confusing outright ban on firearms?
I think any time that there are different rules on different public lands that are basically confusing to the public that it needs to be clarified.
This legislation only allows that the possession of firearms in those places that are open to the public and specifically exempts the Federal facilities that I think Senator Whitehouse was talking about.
The Supreme Court in the District of Columbia v. Heller affirmed that the Second Amendment is an individual right and the right to an operable firearm for self-defense is one that Americans have.
Burdening law-abiding citizens of this Country with the additional Second Amendment restrictions that this Corps is now implementing is not the answer to safeguarding the public.

I would just encourage you and the other Federal regulators to focus on the full intent of EGRPRA and expand your review.
I rise in support of the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program Enhancement Act that I am introducing today with Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan. This bipartisan legislation would address the shortage of veterinarians in many areas…
Time and again, Obamacare has proven government intervention in our health care system does not work.
I think we have a little bit of breathing room because of hard actions you have taken.
Can we simply spend ourselves into prosperity on a continuous basis with borrowed money?
I think the time is here, when we have got to recognize that we cannot just continue the stimulative spending theory at the cost of continuing to drive up this massive debt.
I am a member of the Bowles-Simpson Commission, as you know, and worked with others, the Gang of Six and others, to try to find a solution here.
The bill, introduced by Senator Crapo in the Senate and Representative Simpson in the House, sought to establish a demonstration project allowing comprehensive land use planning and allocation of trust funding in accordance with tribal…
