I want to thank Chairman DeFazio, Ranking Member Graves, Chairwoman Napolitano and Ranking Member Westerman for giving Members of Congress the opportunity to present testimony on the 2020 Water Resources Development Act (WRDA).
I am not a lawyer, but I have to tell you it is pretty obvious to me what they meant in that decision.
Today, I ask that the Committee consider including a provision in WRDA 2020 so that low income communities such as those served by RRWA have first rights to remaining water supply storage in their regions at a reduced rate.
Clearly, there still are many challenges to ensure that all Americans are able to access and use the internet because in today's economy, if you don't have reliable internet access you're probably going to be shut out of the digital…
I do appreciate that we are having this hearing today. I've worked throughout my time on this committee to advance internet adoption and connect Iowa communities.
I am proud that we recently passed the Broadband DATA Act through this committee unanimously on voice.
It is important to know what sort of internet service is available, not just whether it is available but what kind of service as well.
We have got to have good data. Otherwise, this could be a waste of taxpayer dollars.
First, we must ask if content moderators are doing enough. And, second, we must ask whether congressional action is required to fix these challenges.
