I think we would all benefit from the actual measures and outreach efforts that you are engaging in to make sure that our parks really serve our diverse population in this country.

What, in your view, can Congress do to ensure that our federal programs have the flexibility they need to provide the types of financial assistance that are most useful to individual communities?

I agree with you and I would like to work more closely with you as to these two Hawaii communities.

As we talk about staffing and creating a better capacity for us to deal with these diseases, we discussed last year, a permanent forest pathologist to help the region address existing and emerging pests and pathogens.

I want to continue to work with my colleagues and the Forest Service to ensure that this particular project, as well as the other projects, are funded and continues to proceed.

We intend to do that.
